thirty-six

Privacy Policy

Effective as of May 14, 2026

thirty-six is operated as a sole proprietorship based in California, United States. This Privacy Policy describes how thirty-six ("we," "us," or "our") handles personal information when you use our public marketing website at thirty-six.co and our ACT prep web application (for example when you use the app experience linked from this site, create an account, or subscribe). Together we refer to these as the "Service."

Personal information we collect

The categories of information we process depend on how you interact with the Service. They may include:

  • Account and contact data. When you create or use an account, we (and our authentication provider) may process identifiers such as your name and email address, along with credentials needed to secure your session.
  • Subscription and billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects and processes payment details needed to complete transactions. We receive limited billing-related information from that processor (for example subscription status), not your full card number.
  • Study activity and performance data. As you use quizzes, lessons, practice tests, study planning, and related features, we process information about your responses, scores, progress, reminders, and similar usage data so the Service can function and show you your results.
  • Leaderboard and display name data. If you participate in optional leaderboard features, we may show a pseudonym or display name you provide together with aggregated activity metrics to other users of the Service.
  • Communications and feedback. When you contact us or submit feedback through forms or integrated tools, we process the contents of those messages and related contact details.
  • Device and usage data. We and our analytics providers may collect information such as IP address, browser type, device type, general location derived from IP, and how you navigate pages or screens. On our marketing site we also store your light/dark theme preference in your browser's local storage.

We may combine information we receive from you with information from service providers or other sources where permitted by law, as described below.

How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • Authenticate users, secure accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms;
  • Process subscriptions, communicate about billing, and deliver customer support;
  • Personalize your experience (for example remembering preferences and surfacing relevant practice content);
  • Understand usage through analytics in support of product decisions and performance;
  • Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect rights, safety, and property; and
  • Create aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not identify you, where permitted.

How we share personal information

We disclose personal information to the categories of recipients below, or as otherwise described at the time of collection:

  • Service providers who host infrastructure, provide authentication (for example Auth0), analytics (for example Vercel Analytics), customer support tooling, surveys or forms (for example Typeform), video delivery (for example Vimeo), payment flows, email delivery, security, or similar processing on our behalf;
  • Payment processors (such as Stripe) that handle payment transactions subject to their own privacy policies;
  • Professional advisors (such as lawyers or accountants) where needed to operate our business;
  • Authorities and others when we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect users, us, or third parties; and
  • Business transferees in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Where state privacy laws treat certain sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising as a "sale" or "share," we aim to honor applicable opt-out rights. Contact us using the details below if you have a request.

Your choices

  • Account information. You may be able to review or update certain profile details through your account or authentication provider settings, depending on how the Service is configured.
  • Marketing. If we send promotional emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link in those messages or by contacting us.
  • Cookies and analytics. Your browser may let you block or delete cookies and similar technologies. Blocking some technologies can affect functionality.
  • State privacy rights. California residents and residents of certain other U.S. states may have additional rights (for example to access, delete, or opt out of certain processing). Email us to submit a request and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Other sites and services

The Service may link to or embed websites, videos, or tools operated by third parties (for example payment, authentication, survey, or video platforms). Their collection and use of information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. We encourage you to read those policies.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

We operate as a sole proprietorship based in California, United States, and may process and store information in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data protection rules than your home jurisdiction.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent as required by law. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 inappropriately, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective as of" date above and post the updated policy on this page. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an update constitutes your acknowledgment of the revised policy, unless applicable law requires a different form of notice or consent.
