Supported or weakened on ACT Science

If the data match the claim, the claim is supported. If they go the other way, the claim is weakened. You do not need outside science. Science is optional and outside the Composite. Evaluating a model is a close cousin, in evaluating a model.

Claim, then the figure

Restate the claim in one line. Find the table or graph it names. Same direction supports. Opposite direction weakens. Which experiment produced that figure is in which experiment.

Yes/no because items use the same match, in yes-no-because questions. New information that would help is in new-information questions.

The bottom line

Data with the claim: supported. Data against it: weakened.
