Graph y = |f(x)| in Desmos by typing abs, or y = abs(x − 2). The V shape and the vertex are on the screen. Click them. Absolute value as algebra is in absolute value.
Read the V
The vertex is the corner. Intersections with y = k are the solutions of |f(x)| = k. Graph the constant too, in graphing y equals a constant. Inequalities that need shading are a different tool, in shading inequalities.
Desmos access is in Desmos on the ACT.
The bottom line
Type the absolute value. Read the corner and the crossings. Do not split cases by hand unless the choices are expressions.
