Highlight short spans on the digital ACT

October 14, 2026 · 5 min read

Highlight words or short phrases, not a whole paragraph. The tool is built for spans, and a wall of yellow hides the next locator. The highlighter itself is in the highlighter.

A name, a number, a claim

Mark the word the stem repeats. Leave the rest readable. Highlights still do not carry to the next question, in highlights stay on this screen. Line reader covers a row instead, in the line reader.

The bottom line

Short spans. A yellow paragraph is slower than no mark.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
