The digital ACT shows which question you are on out of how many in the section. Use it as a pacing check, not as a reason to rush every item. Combined with the clock, it tells you whether you are ahead or behind. The timer is in the on-screen timer.
Translate the number into time
English has 50 questions in 35 minutes. If you are on question 25 with 20 minutes left, you are fine. If you are on question 10 with 8 minutes left, skip harder items and come back. Seconds per question are in ACT time per question.
The review screen is the place to jump, not the counter. That list is in the review screen. The other tools sit with digital ACT tools.
The bottom line
Glance at question number versus minutes left a few times per section. Do not stare at it on every item.
