How to use leftover time on a section

October 3, 2026 · 5 min read

Leftover minutes are a checklist: flagged items, bubbling or screen review, then stop. Do not reread a passage you already liked.

In order

  1. Return only to items you marked.
  2. Check the grid or review screen against your answers.
  3. Guess remaining blanks—there is no penalty.
  4. Sit. Do not rewrite a first answer without a reason.

Guessing: should you guess. Pacing: time per question.

If you have two minutes, not ten

Skip the reread. Grid, guess, done.

The bottom line

Leftover time is for marked work and the answer sheet. It is not a second draft of English.
