ACT conic section questions usually involve circles in standard form and parabolas from graphs or vertex form—know how to read center, radius, and shifts from an equation. Full ellipse/hyperbola mastery is rarely required; circles dominate.

Circles (most common)

Parabolas

Vertex form y = a(x - h)² + k shows vertex and direction of opening. Graph questions may ask for max/min or axis of symmetry—tie to quadratic equations.
