When a Reading question cites a line number, go to those lines first. Read a little above and a little below, then match a synonym of what is there. Do not answer from memory of the whole passage. Detail questions as a set are in detail questions.
Window, not the whole page
Line 24–26 is a window. The answer is usually in that window, not in paragraph four. If the cited line is a pronoun or a vague this, back up one sentence to see what it points at. Function questions that use a line cite are still a job question, in function questions.
Vocab-in-context cites a word the same way. Blank the word first, in blank the word first. Literal proof is the larger rule, in the literal proof rule.
The bottom line
Cited lines first. A little context. Then a synonym of that window.
