Highlight names, dates, and numbers as you skim. They are locators for detail questions. When a question says In 1912 or According to Chen, you already know where to look. Structure-first skimming is in skimming for structure.
Why they work
Proper nouns and years do not blend into the prose. On the digital test, the highlighter makes them jump back out. The highlighter is in the highlighter and line reader.
Pivot words mark turns, not facts, in pivot words. Do not try to memorize the facts themselves, in do not memorize the passage.
The bottom line
Mark names and dates so detail questions become a search, not a reread of the whole page.
Start practicing
Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
