On paper, ACT has long asked for No. 2 pencils with erasers and warned against mechanical pencils. Confirm this year's list. Digital testers still want a backup pencil if the center requires one for scratch.
What to pack
Several sharpened No. 2 wood pencils. Do not make Saturday the first day you bubble with a new tool. Format: digital or paper.
The bottom line
Bring wood No. 2s. If a mechanical pencil is allowed this year, it is still a worse backup than three sharpened pencils.
