Sliders in Desmos on the ACT

October 6, 2026 · 5 min read

If Desmos offers a slider for a letter you typed, you can drag a parameter and watch the graph move. On the locked ACT build, treat sliders as optional. Type the number the question gave you when you can. Disabled features vary, in what Desmos features are off.

When a slider helps

A family of lines y = mx + b, or a stretch on a sine graph. If the question gives m = 3, type 3. Do not hunt with a slider for a value you already have. Practice in the locked testing build, in practicing Desmos the way the ACT locks it.

Transformations as algebra are in function transformations. Desmos access is in Desmos on the ACT.

The bottom line

Type known numbers. Slide only when the parameter is the thing you are testing.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
