How to get a 29 on the ACT

October 4, 2026 · 5 min read

A 29 Composite sits between a 28 merit step and a 30. The work is one weak core plus fewer careless misses—not a new syllabus. Science is optional and does not enter the Composite.

The Composite math

31 + 29 + 27 averages 29. 32 + 30 + 25 also averages 29—and the 25 is the risk. Raise the floor first.

What to practice

Timed official sections on the weak core, then a weekly full core as a checkpoint. Careless work: stop careless mistakes. The raise: how to raise your ACT score.

The bottom line

Treat 29 as a 28 with the leftover misses cleaned up. If the list needs a 30, keep the same loop—do not buy a new book.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
