How to score old ACT tests on the enhanced scale

October 4, 2026 · 5 min read

Old official forms still teach the questions. They do not share a scale with the enhanced 50 / 45 / 36 core. Score English, Math, and Reading as three separate percents, then treat the number as a band—not a Composite.

A usable estimate

Work a 50-item English slice, a 45-item Math slice, and a 36-item Reading slice from the old form. Convert each with a current table if you have one: calculate a practice score.

The bottom line

Old tests are practice, not a 2026 Composite. Believe a second enhanced-core sitting more than a 75-question raw.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
