A pre-2025 Composite averaged four sections, including Science. An enhanced Composite averages English, Math, and Reading only. The same three section scores can print two different Composites. Colleges can see which generation you took. Do not "convert" a 2023 28 into a fake 2026 30 on an application.
What stays comparable
Section scores are still 1–36. Concordance to SAT still uses ACT Composite tables that ACT and College Board publish—check whether they have issued an enhanced-specific note. ACT to SAT conversion.
What is not a clean convert
- Raw scores from a 75-question English section
- Old full-test percentiles applied to a three-section average
- Using an old Science-boosted Composite as if it were today's number
Practice on old PDFs: how to use old practice tests.
What to send
Send the official sittings you want the college to use. If you have both generations, read superscore and all-scores rules. How superscoring works, sending scores.
The bottom line
Recalculate the three-section average if you are just curious. Report the score ACT printed. Do not invent a new Composite on the Common App.
