Transfer students and the ACT

Transfer admission usually weighs college GPA and credits first. An ACT score is extra—useful for scholarships, for thin credit files, or when the new campus still asks under a credit minimum.

If you already have a sitting

Send it if it still falls in the college's year window and helps merit. Otherwise leave it off.

If you never tested

Sit only if the transfer application or a named scholarship still lists the ACT. Taking the ACT after high school.

The bottom line

Transfers are not first-year files. Confirm the receiving campus before you spend a Saturday on a test nobody will open.
