How to request an ACT refund

October 3, 2026 · 5 min read

ACT refunds are limited and deadline-driven. Canceling before the published cutoff can return part of the fee. Missing the test, voiding a score, or changing your mind after the window usually does not.

When a refund is plausible

  • You cancel in MyACT before the refund deadline.
  • ACT cancelled the center and cannot place you on a makeup.
  • A documented fee waiver or billing error.

Center cancellations: if the center is cancelled. Changing a date instead: change registration.

When it is not

No-shows, late cancellations, and "I do not want this score" after you sat. Voiding is a score action, not a refund: how to void a score.

The bottom line

Ask only inside the published window. After that, move the date or sit the next one—do not wait on a check that will not come.
