How to study the summer before junior year

October 4, 2026 · 5 min read

The summer before junior year is for a diagnostic core, a weak-section habit, and a fall date on the calendar—not a two-test binge. September and October sit right after.

A simple June–August shape

  • Week 1: one timed official English–Math–Reading core.
  • Most weeks: two short sessions on the weakest core.
  • Last week of August: a second timed core, then pick September or October.

Fall dates: September ACT.

The bottom line

Enter junior year with a number and a date. Do not spend July taking five full tests you will not review.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
