What is PreACT 8/9?

October 4, 2026 · 5 min read

PreACT 8/9 is a school-day preview for eighth and ninth graders. It is not the college-reportable ACT and it is not the 10th-grade PreACT. Use it as a long runway.

What to do with the result

If math is the weak line, finish algebra before junior year. Do not sit an official 50/45/36 core because an 8/9 score looked high. Freshman official: should you take the ACT as a freshman.

The bottom line

Treat PreACT 8/9 as a school report. Save the real ACT for when the student has the content and the clock.

Start practicing

Start with a free diagnostic, then drill your weak spots with 15-question quizzes and track how you're doing across Reading, English, and Math. Compare plans whenever you're ready to go further.
