What watches are allowed on the ACT?

October 3, 2026 · 5 min read

A simple analog or basic digital watch is usually fine. Smartwatches, fitness bands, and anything that can receive messages are not. When in doubt, use the room clock.

What to wear

  • Analog face with a silent second hand.
  • A cheap digital that only shows time.
  • Nothing that buzzes.

Clothes: what to wear.

What stays home

Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, and any watch you have to "put in exam mode." Staff should not have to guess.

The bottom line

If it can text you, leave it. A silent $15 watch plus the posted clock is enough.
