Should you take the June ACT?

October 3, 2026 · 6 min read

Take the June ACT if April collided with AP exams and you still want a junior-year official before summer. Skip it if June is graduation travel and you can prep cleanly for July or September. June is the last comfortable junior date for many students—not a senior EA plan.

June is a good fit when

  • You skipped April on purpose because of APs.
  • You want a score in hand before a summer study plan or a July retake.
  • School is out and you can sit a real timed core the week before. When to take the ACT.

June is a weak fit when

  • Family travel starts the day after finals.
  • You are already a rising senior who needs scores for EA—use July: July ACT.

The bottom line

June is for juniors who protected May. It is a poor senior emergency date and a poor first look if you will be in a car the morning of the test.
